A woman reported she was sexually assaulted Wednesday morning by a man who had broken into her apartment on Capitol Hill, Denver police said.

The burglary and sex assault happened at about 7 a.m. in the 1300 block of Corona Street.

“The victim reported she arrived home and observed the unknown suspect inside her apartment,” police said Thursday.

Police said the suspect ran away.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his mid-to-late 20s with very short hair and a clean-shaven face. Authorities say the man is about 6 feet tall and was wearing all black clothing with worn-out Oxford-type shoes.

Anyone with information on the burglary and assault is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
