Poor Abby Perlmutter Miller. On the same day her good friend, Republican Monica Owens, in Colorado Springs, her father, Congressman Ed Perlmutter, is getting an award in Denver .
The 28-year-old offered to drive back from the Springs Saturday night to see her father being honored at the Colorado Democratic Party’s annual Jefferson Jackson Day Dinner. Perlmutter did what any good father would do: He told her to have fun at the reception. (Which trust me, is much more likely to be a blast then a JJ dinner although there is hope: .)
“I love Miss Abby,” Owens said, adding she and the Perlmutter daughter are “political kiddos.” “Although we are on different sides of the aisle, we still understand what it means to be in the political eye.”

Owens, the daughter of former GOP Gov. Bill Owens, is marrying John Beauprez, the youngest child of former Congressman Bob Beauprez, a Republican who used to represent the seat 7th Congressional District, the seat Perlmutter now holds. Abby is one of Perlmutter’s three daughters.
“The Perlmutters are the Owens’ favorite Democrats,” Monica Owens said, which is a pretty ringing endorsement for Congressman Perlmutter, who was first elected in 2006 and has proved to be and the king of retail politics.
