The chairwoman of the legislative committee reviewing the state health insurance exchange said she will ask for a late bill in the Colorado General Assembly to double the scheduled number of one-hour meetings on Connect for Health Colorado from five to 10.

Sen. Ellen Roberts, R-Durango, said more time is needed to fully listen to people and understand issues related to the controversial exchange.

During its first meeting of the year Wednesday, the joint Legislative Health Benefit Exchange Implementation Review Committee heard a summary on released in December. The audit found serious deficiencies in financial controls at Connect for Health, leading to almost $489,000 of questionable payments to vendors and service providers.
