When he’s not standing on top of a barrel rattling it until you’re sure he’s going to fall or screaming in a fan’s face or rolling around on the stage, is a comparatively calm guy. Sure, he’s still excitable, bounding from thought to thought, joke to joke like he has a comedy show crowd to impress, but he’s great to chat with — even in the pouring rain.

On Saturday of , just before going nuts during an early set at the Reverb Party with his punk band , Ben Roy joined Reverb Managing Editor Matt Miller on the streets of Austin to chat about being both an official comedy and music act at SXSW, his upcoming pilot “Those Who Can’t” and what’s next for Spells.
