Crews this month will shut down portions of between Boulder and Denver on several nights as part of a nearly $500 million revamp of the highway.

The first three-night closure, which started Monday night, involves eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 from 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m. and spans from Interlocken Loop to McCaslin Boulevard. Crews will complete expansion joints on the West Flatiron bridge.

The second set of closures is a full weekend closure of the Wadsworth Parkway on-ramps. Starting at 10 p.m. Friday through 5:30 a.m. Monday, the westbound U.S. 36 on-ramp from southbound Wadsworth Parkway and the loop ramp from northbound Wadsworth Parkway onto westbound U.S. 36 will be closed for paving, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The last is a three-night closure of eastbound and westbound U.S. 36, Sunday through Tuesday (10 p.m.-5:30 a.m.) from Interlocken Loop to Wadsworth Parkway, to complete work on the East Flatiron bridge.

“We are putting the final touches on our bridges and look forward to opening Phase 1 to the traveling public this summer,” said CDOT project director Mark Gosselin.
