Denver firefighters rescued a man from a burning home early Wednesday morning in a blaze that sent two others to the hospital.
The fire was first reported at about 12:30 a.m. on the 3800 block of Zuni Street. When fire crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the home, according to Melissa Taylor, a Denver Fire Department spokeswoman.
Taylor said the two people — females — taken to the hospital apparently lived at the home and had been inside when the fire began.
“There was pretty extensive damage,” she said. “Lots and lots of smoke on this one was the real story.”
Taylor said the man rescued from the home refused medical treatment at the scene.
Images of the fire showed firefighters battling tall flames on the home’s roof.
Officials are still working to determine the cause of the blaze.
