MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say a man who stabbed himself to death as he was being arrested in western Colorado was wanted on a warrant for unlawful sexual contact with a minor.
The Montrose Daily Press reports (http://goo.gl/NsNjJW ) 25-year-old John Reynolds, of Akron, Ohio, stabbed himself after fleeing from two Olathe police officers who had stopped him for speeding early Saturday. Investigators say Reynolds was shot with a stun gun after brandishing an “edged weapon,” and at some point stabbed himself twice in the chest with the implement.
He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Akron Police Detective Rex Lott says Reynolds walked out of an interview before he could be charged, and an arrest warrant was issued last week.
