A $10 million grant from the Denver-based Johnson Family Foundation will usher in a new era for the Depression Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, officials said.

The research and clinical center for mood and anxiety disorders, founded in 2008, will be “immeasurably bolstered” by the grant from the Denver-based Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson Foundation, officials said.

The gift builds an endowment that will provide stable funding, $400,000 the first year, to support the mental health center.

The CU Board of Regents voted in April to rename the center the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center.

Center director Dr. Marshall Thomas said the grant will support programs such as the team-based, integrated clinical care and telehealth services that support other doctors and patients in real time.
