Wheat Ridge police are investigating a series of incidents in which shots have been fired along Kipling Street.
Officials said the first incident happened early Feb. 15 when police received an alarm from an Auto Zone in the 3700 block of Kipling Street. Officers determined a projectile had struck a window on the business, shattering the outside pane.
That projectile was not recovered. A week later, police responded to the same business and found three more windows had been broken. Again, no projectiles were recovered.
Then, on Saturday night, an RTD bus was driving north on Kipling Street in the 3700 block when the driver heard a loud popping noise and found a hole in one of the top windows on the side of the bus. A small-caliber bullet was recovered inside the bus. No passengers were onboard.
At about the same time as the bus incident, officials said, two windows in a home in the 3500 block of Kipling were hit by bullets. No one inside was injured. A bullet found inside the home appears similar to the bullet found in the bus.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
