If you’re one of many age-55-plus buyers who have been circling those new ranch-style communities, maybe for years, deciding whether or not to sell the old place and move, Oakwood Homes has an offer to make the picture clearer: “Most buyers know that they love our ranch designs and know that their older home will sell fast, but they’re just not sure they’ll fit into the age-55-plus scene,” says Oakwood’s Trishell MacDonald at Fairway Villas.


Drop by Fairway Villas at Green Valley Ranch this weekend (two miles east of Peña Blvd. on E. 56th) and you can pick up complimentary tickets to Fairway Villas’ opening pool party, set for next Saturday, May 30, 1-3 p.m. Oakwood is setting aside 30 sets of tickets-for-two for people who want to stick a toe in to test the water – meet some current residents and try out the services (the Beer Garden in Green Valley Ranch is handling the food, and Fairway Villas newly opened clubhouse is providing drinks).

“People read stories about our social scene, but they still want to try it before making a move,” MacDonald adds. “Based on our past experiences, we’re very confident they’ll like it; we have numbers of recent buyers who have signed on right after trying out an event here.”

You’ll get to see the quality of Fairway Villas’ private clubhouse on the 16th fairway at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club – the indoor-outdoor pools, the resort-style deck overlooking the lake and fairways, the hot tub, and the fitness center and locker room. And you’ll get a chance to talk with Fairway Villas’ activities director Lindsey Petersen (Fairway Villas residents get all of this WITHOUT paying an HOA dues; the amenities are covered by metro district taxes at a fraction of what comparable HOA fees can run).

And you’ll see the course (Fairway Villas residents get discount rates and preferred tee times), along with the parks, trails, and Oakwood’s three ranch model homes. Each is single-level designed, and has an added ‘smart-space’ upstairs that residents use as a library, media room, home office, or as another guest suite for visiting kids. What you WON’T see, according to Oakwood Director of Sales Dwayne Montoya, are for-sale homes ready for move-in right away. Colorado’s Oakwood Homes – which moved up 48 spots this year to rank 48th in Builder Magazine’s national ‘Builder 100’ ranking – is selling way too fast for that.

“What that means is a chance to plan your move,” Montoya adds – choose from Smart-Space options for your home, maybe a full-wide 3-car garage; and most importantly, lock in a price before those move higher. Mac Donald and her team will show you sites near the clubhouse; and help you plan the timing of selling the old place. They’ll also give you a drawing ticket for a golf twosome to be given away at the pool party, and tell you about other events coming up, including a luau, June 20. Take Peña (DIA freeway) north to E. 56th, head east 1.2 miles to Dunkirk and turn right to 54th Place.
