On the 18th anniversary of the slaying of 13-year-old Steven “Gino” Romero, gunned down in an apparent gang shooting, police in Colorado Springs say they are still searching for two men suspected in the case.
Socorro Anselmo Gutierrez, 45, and Vinnicio Rafeal Martinez, 41, have been on the lam since the 1997 shooting, avoiding arrest on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Police issued a news release on Friday reminding the public that the two remain fugitives.
Steven accepted a ride from three friends in a borrowed 1969 Chevrolet Impala early on May 24,1997 when he was killed.
