When you put a live wire like Barbara Brooks in charge of an event called Glamour & Giving, you can bet your bottom dollar there’s going to be plenty of both.
Brooks, co-founder of the marketing firm , got this benefit for off to a sparkling start by inviting the VIP ticketholders to enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and informal modeling of John Atencio jewels on the Four Seasons pool terrace with defensive end Derek Wolfe of the Denver Broncos.
From there, folks like Cynthia Treadwell, Radhika Black, Danielle Atcheson, Karla DeWitt and Stephanie Ohnmacht moved down to the hotel ballroom to join 200 others to check out the baubles, apparel and cosmetics offered by , , and nine other pop-up shops; buy $20 chances to win a $1,000 diamond from Gnat Jewelers; and have hair and makeup touch-ups by the staff of .
Larimer Square was the presenting sponsor, and several of its stores furnished clothing for the fashion show that followed an expression of gratitude from St. Jude patient Gideon and his mother, Dee-Anna.
Gideon was diagnosed with melanoma when he was 3 and was referred to St. Jude, where surgeons removed a portion of his lower left cheek. His mother said they did “a beautiful job. He still looks like Gideon.”
The family travels to St. Jude every three months for scans and surgery to remove any new growths.
Once things wrapped up at the Four Seasons, Samantha Land, Ashton Eve Alvarado, Victoria Wolodzko, Julie Gremli, Kasey Herndon, L’Erin Stortz and others headed to the nearby Epernay Lounge to join the men who’d gathered there earlier for Guys & Giving, proceeds from which also went to St. Jude.
This year, $75,000 in donations were received, pushing the three-year total for Glamour & Giving past the $200,000 mark.
