GREELEY — Police presence near the 2600 block of 25th Avenue has been scaled back, but the standoff with Jacob Powell has not reached a conclusion.
Since Sunday, much of 25th Avenue between 27th and 26th streets had been closed, and officers were watching Powell’s parents’ home, in which he had barricaded himself.
Wednesday, some streets were open, and police cruisers were no longer visible.
Powell has not exited the home, said Sgt. Joe Tymkowych, spokesman for Greeley police. Officers have abandoned their perimeter to regroup and plan their next move, Tymkowych said. The incident traces its origins to Friday, when Powell was arrested on suspicion of theft of his parents’ vehicle.
