isn’t the only hopeful with Colorado ties on “WWE Tough Enough.”
Hank Avery Jr. — a 6-foot-4, 270-pound former Mercer football defensive lineman — is one of the 13 finalists who will be vying for a one-year, $250,000 contract with the WWE.
He signed a out of high school in 2011, according to The Telegraph. After redshirting his freshman year, he returned to his home state of Georgia.
Profile from WWE:
Looking for a new “Face of WWE”? Well, Hank Avery Jr. was literally a poster boy for Mercer University football from 2012 to 2013. Standing at 6-foot-4 and topping 270 pounds, with a lingering fear of frogs, this gridiron veteran, husband and father makes his living as a pool maintenance manager. But itap only a matter of time before he’s making a splash on a far bigger stage. Just no frogs, please.
“WWE Tough Enough” premieres June 23 at 6 p.m. on USA Network. Each week, a contestant will be eliminated until one man and one woman remains to each receive a contract with the company.
