Lombardi Brothers Meats of Denver is recalling almost 30,000 pounds of meat that may be contaminated with E. coli, a bacteria that can cause a life-threatening foodborne illness.
The recall was reported Friday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Tenderized steak and ground beef products produced June 12-30 were the specific Lombardi products that may be infected. The possible infection was discovered June 30 during routine in-house sampling.
According to the USDA: “The products subject to recall bear the establishment number ‘EST. 772’ inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were shipped for hotel, restaurant and institutional use in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.”
