Authorities in Otero County have identified a 33-year-old Colorado Springs woman who died in a tubing crash Saturday on a reservoir.
Shannon Pierce drowned in Holbrook Reservoir after she had been riding on a tube pulled by a jet ski, the county sheriff’s office said Sunday in a news release.
“Pierce had been wearing a life jacket, but was pulled from the water unresponsive,” the release said. “Attempts to revive Pierce by deputies and EMS were unsuccessful.”
The sheriff’s office and Colorado Parks and Wildlife are investigating the death.
“The cause appears to be accidental at this time,” the release said. “A citation for a safety violation was issued to the jet ski operator.”
