Mosquitoes in Fort Collins have tested positive for the West Nile virus, city officials

“Mosquito traps in the northeast and southeast section of town revealed Culex mosquitoes infected with the disease,” according to a city news release.

The virus can be transmitted to humans by mosquitoes and can leave those affected serious ill.

Officials are urging residents to protect themselves with bug spray and extra clothing, especially from dusk to dawn.
