Getting your player ready...

Castle Rock on Wednesday evening will test a lighting scheme on its eponymous rock monument as part of an effort to determine whether the outcropping should be illuminated year round.

Between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., the town will test a small portion of the rock with illumination to get an idea of what light levels would best work at the site.

Castle Rock lights up the star atop the rock every fall to get into the holiday spirit.

Any final lighting ideas would have to be approved by town council and would include public input. Among the considerations would be installation, type of lighting, budget and timing.
