Getting your player ready...

Interview with Jean Ausenbaugh, board president

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: We had a thrift store on West Alameda Avenue, which was too small. We started the thrift store because we had so many items from our garage sales at the Angels With Paws cat shelter.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: We have probably the lowest prices anywhere. Most items are a dollar, some even less. Of course, there are items that are more. We have a lot of items for pets such as dog and cat beds and toys for them.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: We have many people who shop here almost every day. We exchange stories, often about our pets. It is a lot fun.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: To get even more people to shop.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: All the profits go to the rescue of the cats — 100 percent. All of our items are donated, and we are all volunteers.
