, the farm fresh fast-casual concept born in Boulder in 2009, has ambitious plans for expansion in the coming year, one of its founding partners said Tuesday.

The Colorado-based chain intends to open 10 to 15 restaurants a year starting in 2016, entering one to two new markets every year, said co-founder Rob McColgan at the Association for Corporate Growth Denver’s monthly luncheon.

“We want to be a national brand,” McColgan said. “We didn’t start out to open one restaurant or 10 or 20. We want there to be a lot more, to change the way people think about eating out.”

Over the next six months, five more are on the way in Broomfield, Colorado Springs, Southwest Plaza in Jefferson County and two Dallas suburbs, bringing the total number of Modmarket restaurants to 19.

Modmarket expanded into Texas last year, its first foray outside Colorado.
