Greeley police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy early Sunday after he was found unresponsive with several injuries on his body.

Donovan Nathan Archuleta was found just after midnight Sunday by officers who were called to an apartment building on the 2800 block of 28th Street on reports of an infant who had stopped breathing.

“Officers entered the apartment building and found that the child was unconscious and not breathing,” police said in a Tuesday news release. “CPR was started on the child and continued by paramedics upon their arrival on scene.”

Donovan was taken to North Colorado Medical Center and flown to Children’s Hospital Colorado, where about 2:30 a.m. he was pronounced dead, the release said.

Police say Donovan’s cause and manner of death are pending investigation.

“Four other children in the family were placed into protective custody and remain there at this time,” police said.

Police have not identified the toddler’s parents.

“A search warrant for the residence of the family was conducted on Sunday and evidence was collected for processing,” the release said. “The investigation continues at this time, and no arrests have been made.”
