Getting your player ready...

The Broncos breezed through their final team walk-through session Thursday without starting quarterback Peyton Manning before heading to Seattle for their preseason opener Friday.

Manning spent the session on the opposite field throwing passes to Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and Owen Daniels.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak might sit out the preseason opener against the Seahawks.

WATCH:

Manning, 39, certainly qualifies. That likely means fourth-year pro Brock Osweiler will be the Broncos’ starting quarterback Friday. this preseason to see how much improvement he has made.

Protecting the defense

Starting inside linebackers Danny Trevathan (knee) and Brandon Marshall (foot) have been limited throughout the offseason while recovering from injuries. They are close to being ready, but they watched Todd Davis and Steven Johnson take their first-team reps during the walk-through session.

Cornerback Chris Harris (hamstring), outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (a lot of birthdays) and nose tackle Marvin Austin (groin) sat out Thursday’s session too.

WATCH:

Cornerback Bradley Roby and rookie outside linebacker Shane Ray took first-team reps Thursday in place of Harris and Ware.

Trevathan, Marshall, Harris, Ware and Austin probably will be spectators when the Broncos kick off their preseason schedule against the Seahawks at 8 p.m. Friday.
