Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a 16-year-old girl Thursday afternoon near the town of Idledale.

The 16-year-old flagged down a deputy and reported that while she was jogging through Little Park about 2:35 p.m., an adult male tried to engage her in conversation.

The man then grabbed the girl by the arm and started to drag her. The victim broke free from his grip and ran away while the suspect gave chase for a short distance, according to the sheriff’s office.

The girl was unharmed but “extremely frightened,” the sheriff’s office said.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 pounds, with short black hair and wearing black sweat pants, a gray hoodie, white shoes and dark sunglasses. The sheriff’s office was able to complete a composite sketch of the suspect.

Anyone with information about the incident are urged to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 303-271-5612 or call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
