Through Sept. 13: What better place to hold an ode to all things Scottish and Irish — the people of the traditional Highlands, and the green, misty mountains — than Estes Park? Gorgeous views and a high-altitude (but not too high), tourist-ready setting have made it the ideal home of the Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Festival. This year’s 39th version includes Highland games athletes, hundreds of Celtic dancers, bagpipers and military bands, dogs of the British Isle (including agility and Frisbee dogs), Celtic food and drink, and world-renowned jousters. The Celtic parade alone, billed as North America’s largest, attracts about 40,000 spectators, with an overall expected attendance of 80,000. Sept. 10-13 at Stanley Park Fairgrounds, 1209 Manford Ave. in Estes Park. $15-$35 per event; $72 3-day pass. 800-903-7837 or .
