Lakewood police on Monday asked for the public’s help in finding a vehicle linked to a father who may be trying to flee to Mexico with his three children.
Investigators say the children were visiting their biological father, Jose Roberto Herrera-Simental, Monday when all four went missing instead of returning to their foster parents.
“The father did not return the children at the specified time so police were dispatched to the father’s residence but were unable to locate the children or the father,” police said. “Further investigation revealed that the father maybe taking the children across state lines to Mexico.”
Herrera-Simental is described as a 31-year-old man who is 5-feet 8-inches tall and weights roughly 170 pounds.
The children of interest are Mario Herrera, 4, Isabelle Herrera, 1, and Baby Herrera, who is 6-weeks-old.
The group is associated with a black 2001 Nissan Maxima with Colorado license plate 343WCW.
“The children are not believed to be in any danger therefore an Amber Alert will not be issued,” the release said.
Anyone with information about the group or the Nissan is asked to call police at 303-987-7111.
