Loveland police say a 17-year-old high school student is being investigated after allegedly bringing a BB gun to campus in a car on Thursday morning.
The Thompson Valley High School pupil was removed from class and taken to police headquarters after authorities were alerted to a report of a student with a gun.
Police say the report came from another student.
“There is no threat to the students or the public,” police said in a news release.
The gun, police say, was found in the trunk of a car.
Parents were contacted by the Thompson School District, who referred questions from The Denver Post to police. Nearby schools were briefly placed on “secure the perimeter status” while the situation unfolded, police say.
“No additional information will be released until available and appropriate,” the release said.
