The prince of chillwave has woken from his slumber. It’s been four years since we last heard new material from when he was crooning about a “Polish Girl” on “Era Extraña” in 2011. Time has been particularly kind to the Monterrey-born artist, a lot of which went into the forthcoming “VEGA INTL. Night School,” scheduled to drop October 16 via Mom + Pop Records.

Last night saw Alan Palomo bring his Neon Indian crew to “the Tonight Show” stage with Jimmy Fallon. Palomo dropped the struggling Brooklyn-artist look in favor of a more mature shirt and tie ensemble (white after Labor Day, but we’ll allow it). That wasn’t the only thing that changed. Neon Indian has honed in on a more refined 80s sound that’s no longer restricted to digital synths and copious amounts of electric snare. All in all, Palomo shimmied his way through the performance of “Annie” with moxie to spare in a commanding performance.

Fans can stream “VEGA INTL. Night School” compliments of NPR and catch them at the tour dates listed after the video.
