Those interested in serving on Aurora’s new Oil and Gas Advisory Committee have until Oct. 30 to apply.

The committee will start meeting next year and will help the council “in promoting the efficient and equitable development of oil and gas” while protecting the city’s natural resources and quality of life, the city said in a press release.

The board will consist of five citizen members, with up to two members living in areas most affected by the industry. Three others will be from the industry itself who are registered voters and three surface property owners.

Members serve for three-year terms.
