Authorities are investigating “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the fiery pickup truck deaths of two people late Saturday night.

Two bodies were found in a pickup after a blaze was extinguished near the intersection of Weld County roads 96 and 57 near Nunn. A passerby reported the fire at 10:07 p.m.

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies are “conducting a thorough investigation” of the deaths.

“Suspicious circumstances discovered during the investigation suggest that this may not have solely been a traffic accident and is now being processed as an investigated death,” according to a news release Monday.
