Denver-based digital health company Welltok Inc. has acquired Zamzee, a program that tracks children’s health activity, for an undisclosed sum, the company announced Tuesday.
plans to integrate into its CafeWell health management program that uses social networks and rewards for people to manage their health and provide information to their doctors and providers.
Zamzee was developed out of , a Redwood City, Calif.-based nonprofit foundation that develops technology to improve health.
Like other aspects of CafeWell, Zamzee uses gamification elements aimed at motivating children to increase their activity and track progress via the app.
Since its founding in 2009, Welltok has , regulatory filings show, and the company has snapped up technology such as Predilytics, a health care analytics company.
In late-2013, IBM selected Welltok as one of three early stage firms to elements into its technologies.
