GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Garfield County Commissioners are considering applications for special use permits to drill in the Battlement Mesa Planned Unit Development after the planning commission approved them.
The Post Independent reports (http://bit.ly/1M3gzEi ) that the Garfield County Planning Commission approved the permits early Thursday morning after a lengthy public hearing Wednesday night.
The applications from Ursa Resources are for two pads with 53 wells and a 2.5-mile pipeline connecting the two and continuing into the planned unit development.
Critics of the planned operation say they don’t want oil and gas operations in such proximity to residences.
