ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — A settlement has been reached in the case of a former skiing instructor who sued the family of one of her students after the boy collided with her during a ski lesson.

The Aspen Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1MlhNaB ) Kathryn Parkin filed a lawsuit in March against Michelle Menaker and her son. The terms of the Oct. 29 settlement haven’t been released.

According to the suit, the boy had been distracted by a downed skier when he collided with Parkin on a ski hill during class. Parkin claims Menaker was negligent because she enrolled her son in a class level he wasn’t qualified to take.

Menaker’s attorney argued it’s up to the ski instructor to determine a student’s eligibility for a class, not the parent.
