Canopy Boulder’s fall class of cannabis entrepreneurs faced a tough crowd of potential investors Wednesday, fielding hard questions about unproven business models and inflated valuations.
The take away: Many of the nine companies pitching their cannabis-related ventures just aren’t ready for investment.
Without sales, they simply don’t have the numbers to prove their concepts are worthy, said Bill Decker, a big-data consultant with Cliintel in Denver.
“All of these guys were starting with who they are, what they’ve done. I don’t care,” Decker said. “How are you going to make money?”
