Tonight-Sunday. Two of the region’s most-respected cultural institutions — the Central City Opera and Trinity United Methodist Church — are teaming up for a holiday event that’s a cut above the usual fluff, a presentation of the Christmas-themed “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” The production of composer Gian Carlo Menotti’s 45-minute opera takes place at the Denver church with a full orchestra and will be preceded by a few carols and sing-alongs led by Trinity’s Chancel Chamber Choir and organist Norman Sutphin. It’s a good bet for quality, family fun. 7 p.m. tonight, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. $20-$30. 1820 Broadway. 303-292-6700
