BOULDER — Sorry, University of Colorado students, but you can’t bring the hoverboard you got for Christmas back to your dorm.
Hoverboards — the two-wheeled, battery-powered, self-balancing scooters that are all the rage — are now banned from campus residence halls, following the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s announcement last month that it was investigating the devices.
“It came up over the holidays when it was apparent they were going to be a popular gift,” said Katie Theiler, spokeswoman for CU’s Housing and Dining Services.
Residence halls opened Tuesday for the spring semester and classes resume next week.
