Family Fun Huge horses — outside the stock show

Tonight-Sunday. The National Western Stock Show, which continues through Jan. 24, is a general-audience feast of Western culture. But for equine devotees, Loveland’s annual Big Thunder Draft Horse Show is a more specialized and (for some) thrilling kind of livestock competition. Massive draft horse teams compete to pull carts and wagons, an echo of their once-vital roles in homesteading, agriculture and transportation. Also on tap: a kid’s stick-horse rodeo, pre-show stable tours and the Draft Horse University class. Runs 6:30 p.m. Jan. 15 and 2 p.m. Jan. 16-17 at Ranch-Way Feeds Indoor Arena on the Ranch Fairgrounds in Loveland. Tickets: $10-$15 via . — John Wenzel
