Sheridan police are investigating whether a man was speeding, texting and drunk when he crashed his SUV over a median in downtown Sheridan early Monday morning.

The man was taken to a hospital with injuries after the white SUV landed on its top in oncoming traffic at 2:20 a.m., said Sheridan Police Chief Mark Campbell.

“He made a spontaneous statement to paramedics that he was texting at the time of the crash,” Campbell said. “We’re also investigating him for drunken driving.”

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was going about 75 mph at the time of the crash, Campbell said.
