Highlands Ranch held serve on Friday night.

The Falcons, ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Class 5A poll, rallied past No. 2 and host ThunderRidge 46-37. They are a Colorado-best 15-1 overall, 3-0 atop the Continental League. The Grizzlies are 13-2, 2-1.

The first half was dreadful for Highlands Ranch — it managed only six points in each of the first two quarters.

However, they returned the favor in the second half, rolling to a 34-12 scoring edge. Sophomore Leilah Vigil led the way with 21 points. Next were Brianne Stiers (nine) and Blaire Braxton (seven).

Plus, the Falcons won despite a horrid 11-of-27 performance at the free-throw line.

ThunderRidge was runner-up a year ago to Broomfield.
