Here is the list of the 27 returning champions who will compete at the 2016 Colorado state wrestling tournament from Feb. 18-20 at the Pepsi Center.
The list includes Meeker senior T.J. Shelton, who will be going for his fourth state title. If he wins, he will be just the 19th wrestler in state history to accomplish the feat — and the third in three years. Paonia’s Jesse Reed did it in 2015 and Broomfield’s Phil Downing joined the exclusive list in 2014.
Pomona’s Tomas Gutierrez, Pueblo County’s Hunter Willits, Thompson Valley’s Parker Simington, Fort Morgan’s Toby McBride and John Mall’s Jonathan Andreatta are all going for their third title.
