Glendale City Council this week voted to cancel its April election because all four of the open seats on council are uncontested.

The deadline for candidate filings was 5 p.m. Friday.

“We had the same number of people applying for the same number of openings,” City Clerk Sherry Frame said. “Not only is the election not necessary, but holding an uncontested election would be a waste of taxpayer resources.”

Frame estimates that the cost of the election would have been $27,500. Seven people picked up an election packet from the city clerk but only four candidates filed the required paperwork.

The four candidates declared elected are Mayor Mike Dunafon and councilmembers Storm Gloor, Lindsey Mintz and Scott Brock. Gloor and Brock are new to council.
