The pickup truck has been removed from the crash-site on southbound Interstate 25, but the accident early Monday is expected to continue to tie up traffic, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The truck crashed around 6 a.m. on southbound Interstate 25 and was up against the wall near the South Platte River, authorities say.

Crews are working to clear the site and had to remove a barrier to get the truck out, according to a CDOT spokesman.

The two outer right lanes of I-25 remain blocked, but authorities said traffic begins to break up significantly beyond the crash point.

CDOT said it is unclear how long repairs will take until officials can determine the extent of the damage.

The Denver Police Department said the driver has been cited for careless driving but there is no official report at this time. The driver appears to have been trying to avoid another vehicle when the crash occurred, but the investigation is still on-going.
