Canadian agriculture company Agrium is consolidating its U.S. headquarters in Loveland, where it plans to expand operations in the next year.
Agrium, whose Crop Production Services already is in Loveland, recently signed on as the first tenant of an extension to the Centerra master-planned community.
When the new building is completed in mid-2017, Agrium plans to move its workers there from its Denver Tech Center office and also from other offices around the country, said Paul Poister, Agrium’s spokesman.
“Over the next year or two, we’ll be consolidating a number of office-support functions across the country. Those will be based in Loveland,” Poister said.
About 300 existing and new hires are expected to join the company’s “more than 400” already in Loveland next year, Poister said.
However, Todd Coakwell, investor relations director for the the company is “in the early days of the process” of deciding whether to outsource some of its information technology jobs. The company has about 260 IT workers, 100 of which work in Loveland, he said.
“Agrium is in the middle of a request for proposals process, but has not reached an agreement,” Coakwell said. If the company decides to hire an outside company to take over some IT work, it wouldn’t necessarily affect all 260 jobs, he said.
About 70 employees work at Agrium’s office in the Denver Tech Center, with others scattered throughout the state. The company employs 675 people in Colorado.
Crop Production Services, which was acquired by Agrium in 1993, manufactures fertilizer chemicals and works with farmers to maximize crop yields.
