Re: All those boring right angles in new Denver apartment design, March 6 Perspective article.
In his article about new apartments being built in Denver, Allen Best claims right angles are making the city unsightly despite the functionality that they bring. While I don t claim to be a qualified judge of architecture, these right angles aren t that big of a deal.
Best desires the look of older neighborhoods with less uniformity. However, we can t expect the new styles to fit our liking right away: It took 120 years for Olde Town Arvada to look nicely chaotic. Architectural trends change. If you don t like the current right angles, the more appealing curves and bends will come. Right-angled buildings aren t the end of the world; they are just the most efficient at this time. Just wait until new styles come and wear down those sharp right angles.
