FORT COLLINS — The Colorado State men’s basketball season has come to an end after the program announced Monday it declined invitations to play in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and Vegas 16 postseason tournaments.

“This team has been through a lot this year, both in terms of injuries as well as situations beyond our control, so we decided it was best to conclude the season,” coach Larry Eustachy said in a release. “We were playing our best basketball at the end of the year and just came up short of our ultimate goal. We appreciate the opportunities those tournament committees gave us in extending invitations, but it just is not in the best interest of the overall program.”

Stanford’s Dawkins is fired. Johnny Dawkins was fired after eight seasons as Stanford coach.

Dawkins guided the Cardinal to the Sweet 16 of the 2014 NCAA Tournament and NIT championships after the 2012 and 2015 seasons, but Stanford went 15-15 this season. Dawkins was 156-115 during his Stanford tenure.

TCU’s Johnson gets ax. Trent Johnson was fired as TCU’s basketball coach after the Horned Frogs won only eight Big 12 Conference games in his four seasons. TCU finished 12-21 overall this season, its first in a completely renovated campus arena. Johnson was 50-79 with the Frogs,

 

How to view regional practice. Fans wishing to watch the eight NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional teams in Denver at practice can do so Wednesday. Parking at the Pepsi Center on that day is free.

The open practice schedule is as follows: No. 13 seed Iona, noon-12:40; No. 12 Little Rock, 12:45-1:25 p.m.; No. 4 Iowa State 1:30-2:10 p.m.; No. 5 Purdue 2:15-2:55 p.m.; No. 3 Utah 4:25-5:05 p.m.; No. 6 Seton Hall 5:10-5:50 p.m.; No. 14 Fresno State 5:55-6:35 p.m.; No. 11 Gonzaga 6:40-7:20 p.m.
