Re: Donald Trump’s nonsense on the Republican convention, March 18 editorial.
There is a long-standing, established procedure for selecting a party s nominee. During this process, every state will have held a primary or a caucus wherein every voter will have had an opportunity to make their preference known. When complete, citizens across the country will have spoken and the candidate with the most votes will be known. In this case, be it Ted Cruz or Donald Trump for the Republican Party, how could the elected delegates then go rogue and opt to select someone who was never a part of the debate or voter approval process?
For you to advocate that delegates at the convention would be fools not to survey the political landscape before throwing in with Trump is quite clearly a giant leap towards stripping Republican constituents of their voice.
