A Colorado Springs robbery went awry shortly after it got started after the would-be thief apparently lost his nerve.
The male suspect entered a Walmart at 1575 Space Center Dr. on Thursday, approached a customer service employee and handed an employee a note demanding money.
The robber apparently only made a threat and did not brandish a weapon, according to a Colorado Springs police report.
While the robber watched, the employee walked over and spoke to a manager a few feet away.
Without producing any money, the manager and employee walked over to a phone — as the robber continued to watch — and called 911.
“The suspect then fled the store in an unknown direction, empty handed,” the police report says.
