COLORADO SPRINGS — A climber died after suffering severe head trauma from a fall Sunday evening near Gold Camp Road between Tunnels 1 and 2, Colorado Springs Police said.

The 24-year-old was hiking in the area around 8 p.m. when he fell approximately 40 feet, police said.

The man was taken to Penrose Hospital, where he died, police said.

No other information was available on the person, said Lt. Robert Weber, of the department’s Gold Hill substation.
