When burglars worked their way into a home in south Jefferson County, they appeared more interested in trashing the house than stealing anything.

The home on the 8700 block of South Jellison Court, just north of Hildebrand Ranch Park near C-470 and South Kipling Parkway, sustained about $175,000 in damage, most of it from water, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported. Nothing was taken from the home, officials said.

Deputies said they believe the home was broken into sometime between April 1 and April 10. Drywall was so saturated by water that large pieces fell from wall studs, deputies said in a statement.

Another $50,000 in damage was done to personal belongings in the house, they said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the department’s tip line at 303-271-5612 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
