, 43, pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of second-degree murder, a Class 2 felony, according to a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s office.

Denver police responded to the 2700 block of Madison Street on Oct. 20, 1996. There they found Darryl Givens lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds.

Givens died at the scene.

Givens’ murder was reviewed as part of Denver’s Cold Case Project. Witnesses were interviewed again, which resulted in the identification of Long and his co-defendant, Antonio Domena.

Domena, 45, was acquitted this past week.

A Denver District Court judge sentenced Long on Monday. The sentence was six years short of the maximum possible penalty.
