
Colorado has hired Cheryl Dean, who has two decades of experience in health care settings, as new director of its state-run campus in Grand Junction for people with severe disabilities.
The campus of the Grand Junction Regional Center that passed the legislature last month. , the center will continue to provide services to those with disabilities who will live in the community, said state human services spokesman Robert Thompson.
Dean will be paid $10,000 monthly.
Those services will include vocational services, residential living assistance, speech services and occupational therapy.
The Grand Junction campus is one of three regional centers the state operates for people with severe disabilities. The others are located in Pueblo and Wheat Ridge.
Dean replaces Chris Mueller, who retired March 31 after 30 years with the state.
Dean spent the last 15 months as clinical manager for Medtronic Diabetes, where she provided territory sales management and education for insulin pumps sold on the Western Slope. She was nursing home administrator for two years at Family Health West Nursing Home, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility in Fruita. There, she provided oversight for all aspects of the nursing home and oversaw compliance with regulations.
From 2005 to 2012, Dean was executive director with Volunteers of America.
